“No one can serve two masters” (Mt. 6:24). Jesus inaugurated the kingdom of God. We who belong to Him, belong to our Father’s eternal kingdom. It is one that is simultaneously present in our world and beyond it. It is both visible and metaphysical. Its seeds are sown in the present, but its fruits last forever. The values of this kingdom shape our world and not vice-versa. This has implications for all believers. Embracing Jesus means walking in His ways and living by His words. Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world” (Jn. 18:36). We too are journeying through this world, but like Barnabas and Saul, we are set apart (Acts. 13:2) to advance God’s kingdom. The ‘birth’ paper of our baptism, the ‘passport’ of the Bible, and the ‘ticket’ of the seal of the Spirit gives us flight. May the kingdom values we live propel us into eternal life. Lord Jesus, You are our Saviour and our King. May our lives reflect the values of Your good kingdom, so that we may walk forever in the joys and peace that You grant. Amen.
