Holy Week Bytes

Jesus is present in the poor. They will always be with us (Jn. 12:8). Ours is the task to commend them in prayer, and do what we can to provide for their needs. To care for the poor is to care for Jesus.

But it is possible to serve the poor and be distant from Jesus and His way of life (Jn. 12:6). Adoring the Lord (Jn. 12:3) both supersedes and empowers us to work. All that is given to Him is honoured.

Lord Jesus, may contrition for our sins be the ‘oil’ that bathes Your feet.

May the work we do be the ‘hair’ that brings relief to Your soles.

May the adoration we offer be pleasing in Your sight.

Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
