“I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent me” (Jn. 7: ). The crowd to whom Jesus spoke was mostly hostile towards Him. They either disbelieved or denied the validity of His ministry. Yet, it was precisely for them and the human condition that Jesus was sent.

The crowd in the gospel is a microcosm of all humanity. It is into the very fabric of our lives and human experience that Jesus comes, to primarily rescue us. Each life matters, and so from a life of sin, anger, illness, hurt or doubt, He comes to save us. Give Him thanks.

Lord Jesus, remain with us because of Your merciful and faithful love. You were sent to save us. Lead us always into Your divine heart. Amen
