Today's Byte

Today, the words of Jesus, “Take courage” (Mk. 6:50) have special meaning for Dad and me. Mom died peacefully at home yesterday at approximately 3:15pm. She moved from sleep in her bed to eternal rest with the Lord forever. Dad and I had the privilege of spending real quality moments of love and care for her these past few months. Although we know death is inevitable, losing a loved one is not easy. Dad lost his wife and I lost my mother. The pain is real, the tears fall and our hearts break. Yet we take ‘courage’ in the Lord of life who has promised to be with us always. Mom was ready to meet her Saviour and we have been graced to let her go. Thanks to all for your prayers. Lord Jesus, I surrender Mommy into Your loving hands. Welcome her into that place You have promised to prepare. Give Daddy, me and all who mourn her loss, the courage to carry on.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
