Advent Bytes

Jesus makes an interesting statement in today’s gospel. He says to the men, “According to your faith, let it be done to you” (Mt. 9:29). If we understand that Advent - a time of waiting and preparing - leads us into Christmas - a time of something new: God becoming man - then we need to ponder if we truly open ourselves to newness in life. The blind men had their sight restored (Mt. 9:30). This resulted in not only a new vision in seeing the Lord, but also a new proclamation of telling others about Him (Mt. 9:31). During this Advent Season, let us ask the Lord to make us new (Rev. 21:5). New sight in the light of faith and new hope in God’s power, will yield new fruits for His kingdom. Lord Jesus, may Your grace continue to make my life new, so that with faith and hope in You, I will praise You all the days of my life. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
