Today's Byte

We are members of one human family of God. We belong to different lands, cultures and religions. We have our own unique personalities, gifts and approaches to life. Therefore we are one people who live with differences. Differences are real and have to be acknowledged as part of life. Divisions are constructs that can either be overcome or solidified in the journey of life. When Jesus says He has come to bring division (Lk. 12:51), He is not referring to the differences that are highlighted. He is more referring to two levels of division. The first division refers to the need for all people to embrace His words, evidenced by our corporal and spiritual works of mercy. The second has to do with acclaiming Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away all our sins and leads us to life. Are we united? Loving Father, help us to learn how to overcome anything that divides us from You and each other, so that, despite our differences, we may live as one people who acknowledge You as our Father. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
