Today's Byte

Human beings have different sides to their personality. We all have the ability to be generous or selfish, to do right or wrong, to follow our Lord or follow our inclinations. We can choose to live in God’s light or dive into the night of sin. We are a work-in-progress. But our loving Lord gives us grace and time to live by His word. Today, Jesus reveals a different side to our understanding of a God who is merciful and compassionate. We are told of a ‘Master who expects all servants’ to live what is required (Lk. 12:39-48). We are then informed of the punishment that will occur if we do not abide by what God requires. True love and holy fear should make us better. Lord Jesus, as we embrace Your grace to be better people, help us to choose to please You at all times, and not take Your mercy for granted, but use the gift of time to improve our spiritual lives. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
