Life comprises different stages and levels. We age, learn in school and experiences, get a job, provide for our families, and eventually prepare for death. During this journey through life, we hopefully take time to pray and reflect. We do this to not only identify the stage we are at in the journey, but also what we need to do to get to the next level of growth. Our spiritual lives should also be assessed to determine our current level and steps to take in order to grow. Jesus speaks of hearing and obeying the Word (Lk. 11:28). Are we really listening to the word of God in our private moments and public celebrations? Do we take time to understand, conform and live by the word? Our true growth comes when we obey, not out of fear or adulation, but out of love for Him. Lord Jesus, teach me how to listen to Your word, so that with a humble heart, contrite spirit and genuine love for You, I may respond in genuine obedience to all You ask. Amen.
