Lenten Bytes

For those who choose to listen, the Scriptures impart lessons for life. The lessons remain true in every generation, yet we seem to repeat the same mistakes and rarely learn from the past or present. From the beginning, the Lord told Adam and Eve how to live in the garden of Eden. But they disobeyed, and were eventually expelled. Paradise and life are the rewards for obedience. The wasteland and death are reserved for those who disobey. Jesus speaks His word to us, so that we may listen, understand, obey and grow. His perfect obedience to the Father’s will is the antidote for those who disobey and who betray Him. “Surely, it is not I Lord?” (Mt. 26:25). Lord Jesus, help us to cultivate a spirit of humility, recognising that obedience, to Your word and ways, leads to eternal life. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
