Lenten Bytes

Each day brings an opportunity to show genuine love for our God by the ways we manifest care for self and others. We are to use our blessings to take care of our physical and spiritual health. Gratitude to God our provider should be evidenced by our outreach to others, especially those less fortunate in our society. We cannot eradicate world hunger or poverty, but we can all make a difference by our deliberate actions to help the people who enter our minds through our eyes and ears. Lazarus was outside the door of the rich man (Lk. 16:20), but the latter chose to be blind and deaf to the former’s plight. As we are blessed, may our prayers and sharing be signs of our stewardship as we strive to be blessings for others. Lord Jesus, touch my eyes to see You in the faces of the needy, kiss my ears to hear Your voice in their plight, and open my heart and hands that I may show practical care by my prayers and generosity. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
