The liturgical season of Ordinary Time invites us to put away the lights, manger and the image of the baby Jesus. Now we, who gathered in awe to celebrate His birth, are now challenged to be mature in our faith as the adult Jesus now takes centre stage.
In today’s gospel, we see Jesus comforting and healing those in His presence (Mk. 1:29-39). The awe and wonder we had in the manger now continues with the praise of His power. Jesus is ready to heal us. Are we ready to be more open to His grace and Spirit in our lives?
Jesus has the power to heal, but it is to our advantage to name, own and present to Him that which ails us. Every Doctor has to identify the source and cause of pain before administering the proper medication. If we own the ill, we can praise being healed.
Lord Jesus, help us to draw close to You and walk in Your ways. Amen.
Blessings, Fr. Howie
