"This is my beloved Son. Listen to him" (Mk. 9:7). God our Father, who gave us the Ten Commandments, now gives believers the eleventh commandment, "Listen to him." Listening to Jesus is doing that which pleases our God. Jesus listened to His Father, and we who follow Jesus are instructed to listen to His Son. We listen with ears of 'faith' (Heb. 11:3), eyes of hope and hearts of love. We listen in order to hear, so that we may understand and have the courage to positively respond and obey. Since Jesus' words are Spirit and life (Jn. 6:63), then if we choose to allow His words to shape our lives, the reward of eternal life is assured. Lord, touch my ears to listen to Your voice, so that I may allow Your words to lead me on the path to everlasting life with You. Amen.
