Today's Byte

"They were like sheep without a shepherd" (Mk. 6:34). Jesus is our Shepherd who prepares the table (Ps. 23:5) of His word and body. It is He who feeds, guides and protects us in our journey of life. The aim of the Shepherd is to care for the sheep, and lead us into the green pasture of His eternal kingdom. Even as we celebrate the presence of the Good Shepherd in our lives, we are empowered to reflect His love to all who we encounter. The Shepherd desires all to be saved (Jn. 10:9). Ours is the task to radiate His loving heart by caring for those in need, living in peace with all people, and being as merciful as our Shepherd, who became the Lamb of sacrifice for our eternal salvation. Lord, help me to not only follow you as my Shepherd, but also to radiate Your presence by rescuing the wandering, caring for those in need, and living as a member of Your fold. Amen.
