Today the Lord makes it plain and clear what we are to do to gain eternal life. We are not only to believe in His word, but we are also to eat His Body and drink His Blood. This is as hard to hear today as it was in the time of Jesus. Many walked away when they first heard it. Many today still have a hard time believing in the Word of the Lord and His Real Presence in the Eucharist.
This is the dividing line between believers and non-believers. We either believe in what the Lord says or we don't. For those who do believe, the promise of eternal life is assured.
Lord Jesus, we who consume the gifts of Your Word and Eucharist have the assurance of eternal life with you. May we never doubt the salvation you impart from both. Amen.
