The words of Jesus are meant to match His intention. It is His intention to impart true love, real joy and abundant life (Jn. 10:10) to His followers. Therefore, when the Lord speaks, it is aimed at developing all adherents by affirming their virtue and addressing their vice.
Jesus addresses us from the point of view of a sound mind, body and spirit. The individual who struggles with insecurity, carries a baggage of hurt and pain, or has emotional issues, can misinterpret “Do to others what you want done to you” (Mt. 7:12). Grace is needed.
Lord Jesus, You empower us to seek, embrace and share what is good. May Your grace elevate us in Your ways and come to a true understanding of Your word in our lives. Amen.
