Obedience is rooted in love. We can obey but be resentful, or feel victimized, because of our disconnect from the people, structure or organization. This attitude is non-progressive. However when we obey because we love, we not only experience real joy in our response, but also become elevated in God’s eyes (Mt. 5:19). Live in love.
Lord Jesus, You obeyed the Father to go to the cross because of the love You have for us. May our love for You spur us to live by Your word. Amen.
