There are feelings of warmth, comfort and security when the light from the sun or from the bulb floods the room. These feelings are often taken for granted until the light is suddenly cut without warning. Then feelings of being cold, uncomfortable and fearful surface.
Jesus is the “light of the world” (Jn. 8:12). This is no co-incidental statement. God’s first act was to “speak” light into existence (Gn. 1). The “Word” then takes flesh and declares Himself to be our light. In His presence, our darkness fades and we have the fullness of joy.
Lord Jesus, thank You for being our light. You conquer the darkness of sin and death. May we always choose to walk in Your ways. Amen.
Blessings,
Fr. Howie
