Prayer keeps us connected with our God. It is such a necessary element in our spiritual lives that we hear Jesus exhorting us to “pray always without becoming weary” (Lk. 18:1). The Lord Himself prayed constantly to His Father for His strength and our example.

Although the very act of prayer is a gift from God, we have to desire and want to be in a prayerful relationship with Him. Our aim in prayer is not to manipulate God with our words, but to speak our mind and then surrender ourselves to His guidance and will.

Lord Jesus, You not only taught us how to pray, but also showed us by Your example how to make prayer a regular part of our daily lives. May the prayers we offer from our lips and our hearts rise like incense and find favour in Your sight. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
