The two unique realities about Jesus that we celebrate is that He is our Saviour and He is alive. Since ‘only God can forgive our sins’, then Jesus is equal to the Father and Spirit. His resurrection from the dead makes Him the doorway to eternal life.
Jesus affirms these truths (Lk. 11:29-32). His reference to Jonah parallels His mission. As Jonah was in the belly of the fish and whose preaching brought new life, so too Jesus was in the belly of the earth and the preaching of His resurrection spurs new life.
Today, celebrate the goodness of the Lord in our lives, and give Him thanks and praise.
Lord Jesus, because You live, I can face tomorrow. Because You forgive, I can let go of the past. Because You are my God, I can praise You in every present moment. Amen.
