Tomorrow is the third anniversary of my Mom’s death. They say time heals, but it is the grace of God that strengthens me, Dad and indeed all of us to continue the journey as we cope with the pain and sorrow. We who lose our loved ones to death, surrender them to our God.

Jesus reveals that He has come to gather us to Himself. In today’s gospel (Lk. 5:12-16), He who healed the man with leprosy shows that He is restoring the sick, sinner and the dead back into His saving presence. This is the source of our comfort and ultimate joy.

Lord Jesus, You came to restore us and reconcile us back to You. May Your healing power keep us strong in this life, and may Your grace lead our departed into Your kingdom, where You live and reign with the Father and Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
