Our salvation and resurrection is not just a matter for our soul, but for our entire being. God gives each of us an identity which comprises our body, spirit and soul. Therefore we are to love God with our entire self (Mt. 22:37), because it is our whole self that is blessed and will be changed at the end of time (1 Cor. 15:53).

Jesus solidifies this truth in today’s reading. He tells the paralytic that his sins are forgiven, then He tells him to get up and walk home (Mt. 9:2,6). Both the soul and body are affected by either sin or healing. The complete person at birth is granted re-birth by God’s love and mercy throughout life. Today, praise and thank God with all our strength.

Lord Jesus, You lovingly give us life and mercifully restore it by Your grace. Help us to give You true worship by surrendering our entire self for Your glory. Amen.

Blessings,

Fr. Howie
